Shannon Development Launches 2010 Annual Report

Shannon Region tourism businesses are reporting an increase of up to 12% so far this year compared with the same period last year. Speaking at the launch of the Company’s 2010 Annual Report, Dr. Vincent Cunnane, Chief Executive, Shannon Development said; “We are encouraged by the feedback we are getting so far this year from members of the Shannon Region tourism trade who are reporting increases of between 10% and 12% over the same period last year. While 2011 will continue to challenge certain tourism sectors there are encouraging and tangible signs of growth.”

Eco Tourism Operators to Benefit from EU Project

Eco tourism operators in the Shannon Region are set to benefit from a new EU project managed by Shannon Development in Ireland. The Company is partnered with six other European regional development agencies in a project to identify best practice and policies for the development of eco-friendly tourism businesses in lesser developed, rural locations. Shannon Development secures €5.7m to redevelop King John's Castle

Shannon Development has secured funding of €5.7 million for the redevelopment of King John’s Castle in Limerick. Following a detailed submission by the Company, a grant of €4.7 million has been approved by Fáilte Ireland and the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport under the National Development Plan (2007–2013). The balance of the funding, an estimated €1 million, will be met by Shannon Development.
